Finally – a warm weather day!!

The weather finally turned all the way up to 60 degrees! We had to take a walk (of course) and meet up with our friend Sebastian for some ice cream and sun bathing.

I just thought it was funny that these birds seem to be following the lady ahead

These birds need a hotel room!

Who said all things were bigger in Texas? This is one HUGE dog!

Mexican Food Easter

We had some friends (Ronnie and Katja) call us up and wanted to come out to Lüneburg with their new baby (Karla) (we had not seen her yet) so we agreed. I decided I would do a proper fajita spread with homemade salsa and guacamole. I decided we should also called our friends Stefan and Michaela to join us, because I know Stefan loves Mexican food. The weather could not have been worse. Alex and I grilling meat in the kitchen (because it was raining/snowing too hard to do it outside) was a bit of an adventure – one that we would be ok with not repeating! :) It was fun, but boy was it a lot of work!

Our lovely weather (and Michaela)

Karla – what big eyes she has!

Karla seems quite taken with Alex :)

First birthday in Germany

On my birthday, I decided to take an earlier train in to work so I could have an earlier day and come home so Alex and I could be together. I woke up super early to take a shower and get ready. When I came out to the kitchen to have breakfast, there was a candle lit in the hallway and music coming from our living/dining room. I walk in and there are candles, flowers and presents along with breakfast ready for me (and a cd I had made with our songs playing the background)! How romantic can my man be?? He gave me a beautiful watch that I had seen in a jewelry store window months ago (quite fancy) and a DVD collection of Gene Kelly movies (my all time favorite). We enjoyed a lovely breakfast and romantic setting, enjoying my first birthday spent with Alex in person - EVER! In the midst of our lovely meal, Alex makes a comment that was rather profound... "this will be the last birthday we get to spend alone until the kids are in college!" - quite funny and quite true!

That night his father came out (2 hour drive) from where he lives so he could bring me flowers and gifts and take us to dinner. He's just so cute all dressed up, we had to get a few pictures in.

Poppy's 65th Birthday

Alex's dad (who we call Poppy) turned 65 this year. He has been a free lance music teacher for the town he lives in for over 20 years. Alex wanted to do something special for him, so he put together an afternoon tea and cake at a restaurant in the town where his dad lives. We all got dressed up and had a lovely afternoon with people who love his dad almost as much as we do

Just had to put these in...

We had Christoph, Patrizia and Alessandro over for breakfast one day so we could tell them our baby news. I just had to get these pictures into the blog, because Alessandro is just so dang adorable! He is at a stage where he has learned to kiss, so the last picture of us looking at each other (with his little sly smile) is just after he gave me a kiss. He's just so cute I can't stand it! :P
