First birthday in Germany

On my birthday, I decided to take an earlier train in to work so I could have an earlier day and come home so Alex and I could be together. I woke up super early to take a shower and get ready. When I came out to the kitchen to have breakfast, there was a candle lit in the hallway and music coming from our living/dining room. I walk in and there are candles, flowers and presents along with breakfast ready for me (and a cd I had made with our songs playing the background)! How romantic can my man be?? He gave me a beautiful watch that I had seen in a jewelry store window months ago (quite fancy) and a DVD collection of Gene Kelly movies (my all time favorite). We enjoyed a lovely breakfast and romantic setting, enjoying my first birthday spent with Alex in person - EVER! In the midst of our lovely meal, Alex makes a comment that was rather profound... "this will be the last birthday we get to spend alone until the kids are in college!" - quite funny and quite true!

That night his father came out (2 hour drive) from where he lives so he could bring me flowers and gifts and take us to dinner. He's just so cute all dressed up, we had to get a few pictures in.
