Home to the Big D!

In May Alex and I travelled home for 2 weeks to see my family and our friends. We had a great time, ate a lot of food and squeezed in visits with friends every minute we could. We really needed 2 more weeks (if for no other reason, to get more chicken biscuits from Chick-fil-A!)

We enjoyed getting together for dinner with Lauren and Rob – seriously, could Cheesecake Factory please branch out to Germany???
My sister Leslie and friends Lauren and Karen put together a beautiful baby shower for us. All the girls went to Lauren’s house and my dad did beers and bratwurst for all the men. I don’t have pictures from the party yet but will get some from the others soon.

Just an idea of how silly Alex can be – here is some proof caught on camera. First, he loved this teddy bear Lucy gave us and even more loved dressing him up in the Dallas Stars onesie Katie gave us!
Yes, he can be even more silly!
I do have a picture of the awesome diaper cake Brandy made – Alex had never seen one before so he was super impressed!
The same weekend as our baby shower was Mother’s Day. We went to the French Room at the Adolphus Hotel and had such a great time.

Mother's Day wore Alex out!

The last night my Uncle Lou and Aunt Sonja were in town Alex and I cooked some proper German sausage and made dinner for the family. I have to say, Kuby’s in Highland Park really is authentic – tasted just like we were back in Germany!

While we were there we went to the Dallas Stars playoff game. It was there that Alex surprised me with a beautiful ring and marriage proposal! Believe me I could not have been more caught by surprise!
One of the best gifts I got was a surprise my sister gave me of contacting my long-time friend Dana. Dana and I had lost touch over the past 7 years and had recently gotten back in contact via Myspace. What a lovely treat it was for me to see her at the baby shower. We got together the next week for lunch and catching up.
